🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳 Phu Quoc, Vietnam - February 4, 2026

A second day here and no better way to spend it (for me) than Vinpearl Safari (Pho Quoc Zoo).

And birds of course…

Painted Stork

Aptly named Rainbow Lorikeet

And fighting in the bird bath … can be a colourful affair

Red Lory

Grey Crowned Crane

The stars of the place were the Binturong or Bear Cat. Uncommon in nature.

In the evening it was back to the same area as last night. Different food though … from Uzbekistan! Beef, mushrooms and sauce with rice and dill weed.

🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳 Phu Quoc, Vietnam - February 3, 2026

My fourth trip to Vietnam. Love it! On a recommendation of a friend, I made plans to visit this extraordinary island. Only four days to sample the delights. Offering a wealth of things to do, I’ll only get to sample a few in the short 4 days I am here. Splitting my stay in two separate hotels will do it. The island is large and actually situated off the coast of Cambodia. Phu Quoc offerings extraordinary snorkeling and beaches, Little Venice, Casinos, Vinpool Safari park, Island-hopping and more more more. My first day …

Phu Quoc United Centre or Little Venice. Out the back way of the hotel, past the pool and you are there …

Colourful shop front

Made entirely of bamboo

And then the sun went down …

🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭 Bangkok, Thailand - February 2, 2026

A few days here in route to Vietnam. A few shots near hotel and, of course a required trip to Lumpini Park.

King Power MahaNakhon pixelated 78 story skyscraper.

Night scene

Open-billed Stork. A snail eater. My first encounter with this bird!

Always interesting Asian Pied Starling. Also Pied Myna and capable of mimicking human speech.

A native Thailand plant … Joseph’s Coat

🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭 Pattaya, Thailand - January 29, 2026

Third installment of randomized photos with a routine here that suits me. My favourite place here to hang out is Wat Chai Monkron, the Royal Monastery which is close by. Large, interesting and tranquil which is great to find in somewhat chaotic Pattaya. Lots of trees, water and beauty.

The often heard (loud) but seldom seen Black-billed Asian Koel. Large in size, resembling a crow but with a long tail is a brood-parasitic member of the Cuckoo family.

Common Tailorbird

🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭 Pattaya, Thailand - January 25, 2026

This second post from Pattaya is random photos as usual with a few favourites I’ve taken other years retaken. The first is an ancient potted Desert Rose bonsai. Over 6 feet across.

A decent shot of the Yellow-vented Bulbul

Another common songbird, the Oriental Magpie Robin

Pirates spotted 😉
