^^^|^^^ Montevideo, Uruguay - April 22: 2023

A touch of food poisoning yesterday so only a moderate amount of meandering. Beautiful warm sunny day.

Jose Gervasio Artigas Arnal tomb underneath his statue. He is a national hero in Uruguay and considered the father of the country

Saturday everyone sells in the park, even the guy on the right selling his book

And then there is Mate, the national drink of Uruguay and other places. Must confess I had not heard of it. Very popular here. A mix of caffeine and herbal infusion. With a thermos of hot water, it is consumed everywhere. There is a calabash gourd and the caffeine and Yerba Mate infusion is served with a metal straw. It has definite medicinal effects as well.

1). Rich in antioxidants
2). Boosts energy
3). Improve performance
4). May help prevent infections
5). Help lose weight and belly fat (gimme some of that)
6). Lower blood sugar levels
7). May lower risk of heart disease

The world’s youngest lab assistant

Finally my hotel the Palacio Hotel. A vintage hotel well recommended on many websites.

A vintage Otis elevator still in use

And yes, they use skeleton keys. Took me a little time to master, but it works.
