April 24th .. FAKARAVA

This is the last of the French Polynesian islands. Fakarava has about 850 inhabitants and our ship of 1250 persons descended on them with our money in hand. First we took a 1 hour tour and then walked to a beach. A very quiet and laid back tropical paradise....

A small Catholic Church...seashells draped across the ceiling and mother of pearl

Our guide and his house ... On the lagoon side

The windward or sea side ...

The old lighthouse, soon to be demolished...

Garrett and his mother Chris from Oahu who became friends and honorary members of our group

Buying a palm frond hat for Frank and trying it on ..

Posing with our tour guide...

A 350 year old almond tree

Near and at the beach ...

Breadfruit...

Some of the locals...

Happy hour back at the ship ...
