January 6th ... My 3rd stop at Incheon Airport in Seoul South Korea. This time I leave the airport to spend 4 nights in Seoul. After a 12 hour flight from Vancouver...arriving in the early evening and not quite prepared for a cool -6 temperature with wind. Not sure what the windchill here was but closing in on -20. I met my Thai friend Noom at the airport and took a bus to within walking distance of our hotel, Noom complaining bitterly about the cold. This is the same guy who wanted to see snow? An uphill climb and 15 minutes of walking later, we arrived. The room is very small. Not enough room to swing a cat as they say...10 feet wide by 22 long. Towels are small ... But you get 2 each. I presume one towel for each half of the body. Survivable...and a good rate by Seoul standards.
Funny sign on bus ...nice to see singing an Aria is included.
Seoul (Itaewan) is a "foreigner-friendly" area. It happens to be where we are staying and full of narrow winding streets and small shops of all kinds.
And after a 2 hour walk ... It's time for some Seoul Food. We chose a Korean style restaurant. Salad and chicken bulgogi ($12.92) which was cooked fresh in front of us on a conveniently located wok at every table.
And more sights and signs...
And more to follow ...
