🙏🙏🙏🇹🇭 JW January 28, 2024 Plums and Wat Chai Mongkon
Plums and Wats. Just a short posting as a tribute to one of my favourite fruits, the Marian Plum and one of my favourite places in Pattaya, Wat Chai Monkrol.
Seasonal tasty treat which is like a cross between a mango, apricot and a plum. Packed with nutrition and taste.
Wat Chai Mongkon is a sanctuary in busy Pattaya. A park, a business and a Royal Buddhist temple all wrapped into one. It’s close by and I make frequent visits. It’s also a great shortcut if you know where to go.
A great collection of Desert Rose Bonsai’s

🙏🙏🙏 🇹🇭 January 21, 2024 Pattaya, Thailand
Now I am in Pattaya for a month of relaxation before heading for the last rapid rounds of travel. This is the 10th visit here and postings will be similar to other years as I don’t set out for great adventure. Having said that, I do visit different areas and take advantage of photo ops whoever possible. I have asked myself why I keep coming back. Here are some reasons I can think of in no particular order:
1. It’s familiar now. I generally stay in an area I am familiar with. I know where the shops are, the good restaurants and how to get around.
2. I have friends here. I can share activities…gossip and chat!
3. I can easily indulge being a fruitaholic! Local wonderful pineapple, mango, oranges, strawberries, pomelos, plums plus plus plus.
4. I can stay for a reasonable price. My large condo with all the amenities I need is still CAD$350 per month !
5. They have two larger shops that cater to us “Falangs” who are not from these parts! You can buy good butter, cheese, jams and other western treats.
6. Wonderful Thai and other restaurants. Street food galore selling everything!
7. Good beaches within walking distances. Relaxing and great for “sightseeing”
8. Nightlife of extraordinary proportions. Not that I’m an age for such things much anymore, I’m not a monk!
9. The quirkiness and style that is Thailand.
10 The Thai people with their smiles that warm the heart and their genuine respect for “older” folks such as l.
