Back In Bangkok

Thanks to recent protests here, room rates have been very reasonable and I can afford a wonderful 4 star for $40-$60 per night an up to 60% discount.

The Mandarin ... One of my favourites. The one with the amazing toilet!

And the other, the Furama....

And the view from the 11th floor...

A final submission for this trip

On this the longest holiday I have ever been on, a total of 79 days I include some if my favourite pictures from this trip. Some pictures you have seen before with a few you have not.

And finally, my good friend Noom who guided me through some of Thailand I would have never seen otherwise. Krup Khun Krup .....

A new restaurant for me and the last splurge in Bangkok

On this the last full day here in Bangkok, I splurged for me and a friend to go to Mango Tree restaurant. I had not been there before. I ordered one of my favourites Tom Kha Guy, the coconut and chicken soup together with a pork dish and crab dish. Of course it was mango and sticky rice for desert. The food was superb. There was live Thai music. The bill came to 1777.27 baht (C$63) with the service charge and VAT added. Lucky numbers!

Ancient Siam part 2

After the floating market, it is off on the trolley tour to some of the other sights.

Visiting bird ...

The last pictures were taken quickly out of the trolley window....

Ancient Siam

This third attraction is truly amazing. You can see all of the major sights in Thailand all at the same time. Two hundred acres in size, it corresponds roughly to the shape of Thailand. Structures are placed in the same corresponding area. These are recreatiins in exact or scaled down size and look remarkably like the original structures.  Originally intended as a golf course, it evolved into so much more. An amazing place.

The first area...the floating market

A visiting monitor lizard ...

An antique ice block crusher...

An offering ...
