Song Thaew or Baht Bus here in Chiang Mai is everywhere. You hail one and ask if they're willing to go where you want to go. Rates can vary from 20 baht or C .75c and up depending on distances. Private use can be 150-200 baht (C$5.63-$7.51). Outside the city and further cam be as much as 800 baht or more. Essentially, the driver determines custom fares (no meter).
Tim Tuk is another taxi and fares go from 60 baht and up. My friend Noom says "if the foreigner looks stupid, they charge more 100-200 bah".
